Did LeBron Drop Gang Signs at NBA Championships?

LeBron James came under fire following Los Angeles Lakers’ victory over Miami Heat in the NBA Championship on Sunday. But It wasn’t the win that caused the controversy – it was the celebration on live TV following the game that vexed many viewers. Did he throw gang signs?

LeBron was seen going in for a ‘one-finger’ handshake with teammate Dion Waiters, which many people deemed to be ‘dropping rakes’, which is meant to disrespect Chicago’s Gangster Disciples gang. The sign was picked up by several people, and they became pretty vocal on Twitter regarding the perceived diss.

According to MTO News, some Gangster Disciple members “think that Lebron was deliberately taunting them with his hand gestures.”

The hand sign was probably innocent in nature, though LeBron James has yet to speak out about the incident.

With the help of star player LeBron, the Lakers defeated Miami Heat 106-90, winning the series 4-2 and securing Lebron James’ fourth championship of his career.

“I told [Jeanie Buss Lakers owner] when I came here, I was going to put this franchise back in the position where it belongs. To be part of such a historical franchise, it’s just an unbelievable feeling,” James said. “We just want our respect.”
