Billy Blundell, along with his brother, Eddie, built up several successful businesses, including a lucrative ice cream trade. They had a fleet of vans serving various tourist spots in and around the London area. During the ice cream turf wars, the brothers shot and killed three members of a rival gang out in the open on Ilford High Street in East London. Billy was charged with attempted murder, but a jury cleared him and concluded he acted in self defence.

The Blundell brothers had many other business activities, though most were rooted in the criminal underworld. They spoke openly of their criminal involvement and hard men reputation, but also acquired a legendary status – almost akin to folk heroes.

The cause of death has yet to be confirmed.
