Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine – real name Daniel Hernandez – has reportedly filed a letter via his attorney, Lance Lazzaro, pleading with the judge to free him on health grounds.
Lazzaro specified serious concerns for the health of Tekashi whilst behind bars. He states his client suffers from asthma — which could mean the Coronavirus (Covid-19) could prove that much more serious for him.
The letter was obtained by TMZ.
Lazzaro also reveals Tekashi was diagnosed with bronchitis and sinusitis in late 2019 and was hospitalized for treatment. He also states the rapper has recently had shortness of breath, but prison officials refuse to let him see a doctor.
Tekashi only has a few months of his sentence left, but his attorney says he cannot risk staying in prison any longer, or his life could be on the line due to the pandemic.
Tekashi is currently serving a two year sentence for racketeering.
Tekashi faced up to 37 years behind bars, but was offered a more lenient sentence after he became a witness for the prosecution against his former gang members.
The testimony he provided helped to convict Bloods gang members Aljermiah Mack and Anthony Ellison and, in turn, significantly reduced his sentence.
Tekashi’s girlfriend, Rachel Wattley, claimed he didn’t have a choice about snitching on his former gang members, and he will now face the rest of his life with a target on his back.
