Salvatore Tamburrino, former member of the Di Lauro clan in Naples, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife in 2019.
Tamburrino’s wife, Norina Matuozzo, 33, was shot dead execution-style, receiving three bullets to the head on March 2, 2019. The court heard that Tamburrino killed his wife because he found it difficult to accept their separation. He told authorities that he had purchased a gun that morning, and had taken it, along with his will, to the home of his wife’s family, where he intended to kill himself. However, when his wife refused to speak to him he fired at her and killed her.
As the police were investigating the murder, Tamburrino unwittingly led them to Marco Di Lauro, the reputed Camorra boss who had been on the run for 14 years. Di Lauro gave himself up without resisting, despite being on Italy’s most dangerous fugitives list. He is now serving life in prison.
Salvatore Tamburrino was sentenced to life in prison on Monday.
